Spring 2014 Rallier

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to you all. I trust that you had a good Christmas and you are looking forward to coming out rallying with your friends. John & I finished off IMG_0004the year by going to the Snooty Fox rally. The weather was fair and we enjoyed ourselves getting the bus to Scarborough one day then Malton the next day with lan & Linda, Geoff & Derek.

We visited the Charity shops looking for that bargain before returning back to camp on the bus. lt was good. We were disappointed when we learnt that the Christmas dinner rally was cancelled. This was due to the power companies relaying new power cables for the air field which is close to the campsite.

We did go to the New Year Eve rally at North Scarle. Ian put this rally on in lieu of the cancelled Christmas dinner rally. Three units attended. Besides John & I there was Ian & Linda and Phil & Joanne who made the trip up from Kent. It was very nice to see them. The weather was damp but slightly mild. We did our shopping in Newark before attending the evening social in the village hall. We were disappointed because it was full of children who were running around wild and screeching so we came back and finished the night off in Ian & Linda’s van. The next day we left for home. John & I went to Brownhills for our dinner.

In February John & I will be going on a coach holiday to the lsle of Wight and getting back in time to do the first club rally at Ripon. I am hoping that the weather this year will be as good as last year and we have some really good turn outs at the rallies. I have noticed some new venues on the rally programme for this year so here’s hoping the members will give their best support and come out.

A Happy New Year to you and thank you for renewing your membership. Five members have not renewed their membership with the club. Three of these members did not rally with us last year so it’s not surprising that they haven’t re-joined. On a brighter note I have been busy recruiting for new members. I have given out six application forms to people who seem interested in the club. Three of these people were rallying at North Scarle who seemed very disappointed with the club they were rallying with. They have been invited to join us at our first rally this year at Ripon. So here’s hoping!IMG_0005

Welcome to the first Rallier magazine of 2014 and a Happy New Year to you. I have managed to have my camper van sliding door runner mended and now it opens and closes without it falling off.

We have a reduced rally programme this year as it seems that too many rallies in a year are becoming tedious so I have been told which is a great shame. Never mind, we have several new rally venues for you to explore this year as well as a couple of the old favourites.

The first rally is at¬† Ripon. It proved popular last year and a request was asked to book it again. So, if you didn’t manage to get there last year here’s your chance for this year. Mother’s Day rally was also a winner last year so we are doing it again at Gargrave. These two venues have toilets & electric and are reasonable priced.

The Easter rally this year is close to Doncaster. This is a site with several fishing lakes which I am sure will please the fisherman of the club. There are a few electric hook ups on a first come basis. It is the club’s first members meeting for 2014 and it is hoped that we get a good attendance. There is an on site licensed cafe which does serve good food. We will be holding the Member’s Meeting on the Saturday evening followed by an evening meal of some kind should there be enough interest. If you able to do it we have six day rallies this year plus a couple of follow on rallies.

I have reserved a pitch for the Lincoln Motorhome Show in September. To be able to use it I need at least five units booked in advance or we will be transferred into the public area which means it may be possible that we will not be camping together, so if this type of rally interests you please book in as soon as possible to qualify for the club’s own pitch.

The club has now got a face book page. Look at it, read what comments there is and if you want, add your own comments and photographs. The address is www.facebook.com/nrcampingclub
