Thank you to all the members of the Northern Ralliers Camping Club who welcomed us so warmly into their club. Your cuppa Ian was so welcome and the Spaghetti Bolognese on Sunday.
Five units arrived at Lincoln. We all set up pitch near to the main entertainment arena. That was good. We were near to the water and elsan point and the toilets. We were also blessed with sunshine.
Saturday saw us all go into Lincoln in the special buses put on for us. They were shuttle buses going back and forth. What a lovely day spent at the topof Steep Hill in the Castle Cathedral. We had a good meal in the Snake & Lion pub too, Tragedy struck when we tried to catch Lincoln circular bus back to Silver Street to board our bus back to the showground. Ralph decided we would walk down Steep Hill or we would miss the last bus back to camp. I had forgotten how steep it was. lt doesn’t get its name for nothing. With sore feet we joined the long queue quite right down the lane to the Bragford.
Eventually we got on board the bus and finally got back to camp and in our camper van still with sore feet. That night Linda and I dressed up as cow girls to watch
the line dancing. I took some photos.
Sunday we saw a wonderful sight. A fantastic Vulcan Bomber and a Lancaster Hurricane. That got some campers recalling their waking days at the aero space. We walked past the traders to see the Spitfire parked on the showground. That’s always a bonny site as it is kept so well.
What a delight meeting Rosemary Shrager the cook said she’d been in a living room on telly for the last twenty years. She had a lovely smile a warm handshake and she signed my programme. A delightful lady, and such fun to know her. (l did get a taste of her cake too)
We did like John & Anne’s new camper van. lt’s really smart. Ralph would like a smaller van. We did look at a few but were spoilt for choice and couldn’t make our minds up.
We hope that you all had a good time up in Yorkshire at the forties weekend get together. Sorry we couldn’t be with you this year.
Happy Camping and best wishes to you all.
Maureen & Ralph
